Post A change for the worse??

that since the layout of this site changed, the number of visitors and new galleries has pretty much come to a halt... I'm sure the changes were meant to be positive ones, but it doesn't seem to be working out. Anyone else in favor of going back to the more successful format? I had noticed that the site was getting more traffic and was excited about that, but that seems to have completely reversed since the site got it's 'new look.' Anyone else care to comment?

Hi Abbie,
I know that for me, I will often go over the front page, bringing up the popup for each page to preview what is there. If I see something that I really want to view close up, I click into it but sometimes the preview was enough to get an idea of what was there. Your numbers will not increment for these popup views even though the person did, in effect, view most of the content on your page. So the numbers reflect (in addition to countless other variables) a change in browsing habits, though overall traffic on the site (and probably the amount of exposure you are getting) is just as much as it ever was.

I would not compare your numbers from before the change, to those after the change, as a gauge of how your exposure has changed. It is quite possible that your work is actually getting seen MORE because now people can sit on the front page scanning through everything that is there, rather than immediately diving into a specific page. I've noticed that I can review new content much more quickly than I could before, with much quicker response times since a whole new page is not being built each time I look at something. On the servers, this dramatically reduced CPU consumption, further improving page response time across the entire site. After observing the changes for a couple of months I think they were beneficial at every level.
