i saw this kind of frost for the first time last winter, 2005. first thought it was discarded tissue while driving, took a closer look and couldn't get enough pics, now i look for it. only on less then
2 inch branches of alder, dead or dying. the webs were on wharf walkway railings. took some pics of webs the day before with just dew on them. many fell from the weight and lay on the rails. awesome sight. thanks for the comments chris and artist4xt.
