These beautifully ugly seals flourish along California's central coast. During the winter they breed and lucky photographers might catch one giving birth. I wasn't so lucky, but I did capture some great images. Almost every mother had at least one pup and the fights between the territorial males are amazing. They also make the most interesting sounds.

I took these shots of the koi while visiting the Japanese gardens in the Huntington Library/Gardens. They are such beautifully colored fish.

This is where all of my insect galleries will be put. Here I hope to allow people to get close to the things they wouldn't dare in person. For those that love insects, I hope you enjoy, and know that I never harmed any of these creatures.

These shots were taken near Royal Palms in San Pedro on 5-31-06. Tide pools are an important underwater ecosystem with an abundance of life. It's too bad so few people respect them. I make sure to watch where I step and not harm any animals while I'm there, while other people poke at the anenomies to make them squirt. Hope you all respect and enjoy these creatures as much as I do. Thanks for looking.

At around 3:30pm on 11-26-06 the pelicans at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands were putting on a show for many photographers. I'm glad I was one of them. Check out these shots and please tell me what you think. This was a lot of fun! These shots are posted in the order that they were taken.

I was trying to catch some shots of the bees in flight but not one of them came out clear. I think I got a lot of nice clear close ups though. Take a look!

This squirrel was eating lemons in my backyard between 6:30 and 7:00 am. I've never seen a squirrel do that before. Most of these shots are grainy due to the low light and me failing to increase the ISO setting on my camera...oops! Thanks for looking!

Today (7-20-06) I rode my brothers motor scooter through an area known as Portuguese Bend in Palos Verdes, California. I carried my camera around my neck in hopes to catch some shots of the local peacocks. I only found a few and they were elusive and difficult to shoot. I did, however, find this amazing lizard. At the time I did not know what kind it was or if it was native to the area, so I left it alone. I have now done some research and it saddens me to know that this "3-horned chameleon" is not native to these areas and is most likely an escaped or let-loose pet. Its chances of survival in an area like this are not good. I wish I would've known better:(

I sat at the cliffs of Portuguese Bend for a while in hopes of getting some good pelican shots. Here's what I ended up with!

I woke up early one morning in Arches National Park in hopes of getting some nice light on the landscape. As I was getting out of my tent I saw this lovely female mule deer in my campsite. I decided to just take pictures of her while she was eating. She let me get pretty close!

These shots were taken in a sea cave without flash. It was difficult to get a shot without the sea lions moving around. Through trial and error, and working with the available natural light...these are what I ended up with. Pictures or no pictures...the experience was fascinating.

We had a few blue birds around camp while working in Joshua Tree. They were a lot of fun!

I was down in Royal Palms in San Pedro again. This time I took the D70. I was hoping for shots of the tide pools during sunset, but it was high tide. So instead, I played with the cats and birds!

I went to the zoo on 6-9-06 and I have to say I have never seen the animals as active as they were today. I took a lot of pictures so I'm breaking it up into two galleries. Here's the first one! Hope you all enjoy. Thanks for looking!

Here's the second set of photos from my trip to the zoo. Most are of the flamingos, but there are a few more of the giraffes and the male lion! Hope you enjoy!

All of these shots were taken in my pre-digital days. These are scans of my 4x6 prints. Some of these animals were in the wild and others were in captivity. I try to make the ones in captivity look as natural as I can.
